Phytase Introduction
Phytic acid is the major storage form of phosphorus in cereals, legumes and oilseeds. It serves several physiological functions and also significantly influences the functional and nutritional properties by forming complexes with proteins and minerals.
Adding phytase to animal feeds makes grain phosphorus more available to animals, thereby reducing the amount of supplemental phosphorus needed for optimum animal performance.
Working Mechanism & Properties
Phytase enzymes can cleave inorganic phosphorus from the phytate molecule to increase bioavailable phosphorus in feed grains. This reduces the supplemental mineral phosphorus required and decreases environmental phosphorus release through fecal matter.
Optimum pH Range4.8-5.2
Temperature Range55-60℃ (131-140°F)
